DEAD Reborn eBook TW Brown Shawn Conn
Yet another winner in TW Brown's Dead series. I do recommend that you read Volumes 1-6 before you start this one. This book continues the saga that started with Dead: The Ugly Beginning. We meet several characters from prior volumes, along with a few new ones. The thing I really like about Brown's books is that he makes me respond to his characters emotionally, whether they are good guys or bad guys. One thing you can count on, no one is safe in the Dead universe! The fact that I get sad/mad/glad when certain characters in his books die is a big plus.
I like that Brown's writing is fairly plain, without the unnecessary detail that some authors burden their pages with. I don't want to read pages and pages of descriptions of guns, ammo, cans of food, water, and other minutiae that bog down the story. If you've read many zombie books lately, you know exactly what I mean.
The only books that get five stars from me are the ones that I enjoy so much I'm willing to buy someone else their own copy. I've done this with all the previous books in the Dead series, and I know that I'll be doing the same with this book.

DEAD Reborn eBook TW Brown Shawn Conn Reviews
I don't know how he does it & does his publishing company, blots, twitters, & facebooks along with being a husband and father, don't forget that he is in a couple of bands! Wow! (He seems to make me say that a lot! I know he has a wonderful supportive wife and I believe that old saying is true.
AND
He writes full on novels! None of these 15 page so called books that some authors are putting out as book 1 in there series. They sell them to the unsuspecting for. 99, $1.99 or sometimes even more. Sometimes they are free and used to hook you into a series. Some people may feel that it is better to spend a little to see how a book is then to just buy a whole book, I don't agree, I like good solid books of 250 to 300 pages and that's what you get in this series. The first one was free and a full book!
I am glad to see how the author is fleshing out Billy's role in Kelvin's camp, now that Kevin is gone. I was always one for "oh no we can't lose the main character', but I'm finding that the way it's done in this series it is actually more true to life. In our world, as we know it, there is the circle of life and like it or not it just keeps going. In a real ZA we would have a bunch of different groups & in those groups the crown will be passed several times for one persons life. That is how these books go. Mr. Brown has good groups & some evil groups. I have read some reviews that some people are offended by some of the more realistic scenes. Then read fairy tales, except whoops, people get eaten & killed or kidnapped in those too. When you think of some of the standards we have read our children over the decades it is really amazing we are not all a bunch of psychos!
READ THIS BOOK! You will love it and start with the first one so you get the full benifit of TW Brown's writing. If you have not already read it I suggest the Zomblog series too. It is excellent reading, a shorter series for those of you that are overwhelmed by such a long one. I am looking forward to the next book in this series but its a good thing I had to take a break from my escape because my real life was starting to resemble an apocalypse. No really! I am so behind on my reviews, something I was religious about for a long time. My KF 1st gen broke, BestBuy wanted to send it in, I freaked, came home & ordered a new one from because BESTBUY DID NOT HONOR MY INSURANCE (That's right, tick me off & the world will know) My screen got damaged before i could get it back into its suit and when I did take it back to BESTBUY I SUDDENLY HAD NO POLICY! Ill buy everything that we would have bought from Bestbuy from now. Sorry for using a review to air my frustration but people should know who honers insurance policy's and not.
First - having lived in Valpo (Valparaiso) for eight years it was cool to see it mentioned. In reality anyone who has ever lived there never saw it as anything more than a bedroom community for Chicago. Okay, that's out of my system...onto the book.
Reborn is the seventh installment of the Dead Series and was a decent read. I felt it was more filler than meat. The oddities with the child zombies have been there for at least two books and I am wearing thin on the buildup. I am an avid fan of this series, so I say that with a great deal of respect toward the author, T.W. Brown. He has given me another world to enjoy through reading, one that I love.
This particular book just seemed less substantial, like I said above, just a filler. Still, I gave it four stars because while it didn't feel or read as well as the others it continued the stories of characters I've come to care about. There were several errors in the book where the wrong character's names were used but easily deciphered.
I felt like the book was building to something but never quite made it. I do recall a comment Mr. Brown made to me earlier - that his books were written in threes. This would be the first of the next three so perhaps the feeling of being built up was not accidental and my questions will be set aside in the next two books.
I still recommend this book as part of the series. While there wasn't any clear direction felt for where the character are headed their world was still engaging and emotionally charged. I cannot wait for the next and will enjoy reading the books again as I wait.
Rereading this review it seems harsh and if I hadn't read the series I would be hard pressed to understand the four stars. The answer as to why is in the fact I have read the series and can see the need for a breather book...not that it was boring because it most certainly was not! From the main story (formerly Steve's view) to the geeks, Jody & Danny, Vix, Gemma and Harold, Juan, and others they were all there and their stories continue to enthrall me. Particularly loved Granny Rambo, she absolutely rocks.
Trust me, the book is worth the money and time reading, the series is off the chart!!
